This is your invitation to experience the finest lawn care available in the Augusta, GA, and Columbia, SC, areas from TurfMasters.
Our monthly Bermuda grass service program also caters to southern homes with Zoysia, Centipede, and St. Augustine lawn landscapes. In addition, beyond lawn care, we also specialize in tree and shrub care, liming applications, PGR services, and insecticide applications.
Why Is Pre-Emergent Lawn Care Important?
Our pre-emergent lawn care protocol is applied to lawns in the spring and fall, to prevent the germination of weed seeds which can devastate your lawn if not stopped before it’s too late.
In the spring, our pre-emergent weed control will be applied when air temperatures reach 65 to 70 °F for four consecutive days. Then later in the year, come fall, treatment will be applied when nighttime lows reach 55 to 60 °F for four consecutive nights.
The benefit of TurfMasters’ pre-emergent lawn care services is weed control which prevents germinated weed seedlings from becoming established, giving your lawn the opportunity to flourish without invasive weeds and crabgrass.
We strongly recommend that you contact us now, as January approaches when we will start applications of a blanket of pre-emergent lawn control targeting crabgrass, along with broadleaf weed control and a root-enhancing fertilizer for enriched lawn growth.
How Does The Turfmasters Monthly Bermuda Grass Care Program Work?
After our first visit in January for the pre-emergent application, here is what to expect during the remainder of the year:
- A second application of pre-emergent for continued crabgrass control along with broadleaf weed control and fertilizer.
- An early treatment customized to your lawn’s needs which may include fertilizer, broadleaf weed control, iron, insecticide, and fungicide.
- Core aeration will be performed to alleviate soil compaction.
- A midsummer treatment customized to your lawn’s needs which may include fertilizer, broadleaf weed control, iron, insecticide, and fungicide.
- A late summer fertilizer will be applied with broadleaf weed control, as needed.
- A fall application of root-strengthening fertilizer, pre-emergent weed control, and broadleaf weed control.
- A lime application will be applied to maintain a favorable soil PH.
- A winterization treatment to maintain your lawn’s health by strengthening roots and treating weeds, as needed.
What About Plant Growth Regulators – Are They Important?
Especially here in the Augusta and Columbia area, Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs) are highly recommended for Bermuda lawns. Their use reduces needed mowing by half and results in a deeper, darker green lawn.
Four applications are needed annually. Applications start May 1 and continue every 4 to 6 weeks throughout the summer.
By Contrast, How Does The Turfmasters Care Program Work For Centipede, Zoysia, And St. Augustine Lawns?
Similar to the Bermuda grass pre-emergent treatment targeting crabgrass and broadleaf weed control with a root-enhancing fertilizer, the remainder of the regimen typically follows this pattern:
- A second application of pre-emergent for continued crabgrass control along with broadleaf weed control and fertilizer.
- An early treatment designed for green-up customized to your lawn’s needs which may include granular nitrogen fertilizer, broadleaf weed control, iron, insecticide, and fungicide.
- Core aeration will be performed to alleviate soil compaction.
- A midsummer treatment customized to your lawn’s needs which may include liquid iron fertilizer, broadleaf weed control, iron, insecticide, and fungicide.
- A late summer liquid fertilizer will be applied with broadleaf weed control, as needed.
- A fall application of root-strengthening fertilizer, pre-emergent weed control, and broadleaf weed control.
- A winterization treatment to maintain your lawn’s health by strengthening roots and treating weeds, as needed.
